Our Ethos/Relationships

This is what our business is all about. Our focus is primarily to try and maintain a connection to real food and people. We work with food growers and suppliers with strong ethics and care for what they do.

This can be tricky when working in events as the seasons and availability of food in large quantities is hard to guarantee. Nonetheless we endeavour to do this. We work with the seasons and try and gather foraged items and process them for the year ahead, where we can.

We believe in proper sourcing, preferring ingredients that are ethical and as sustainable and honest as possible. Somerset has great artisan producers of conscious food offerings and our homeland of Scotland provides us with produce we love to showcase and shout about.

Everything from salt, olive oil and chocolate right through to our carefully selected spices are all from UK based suppliers who have, grow or import beautiful produce from home and abroad.

All our protein so meat/fish/eggs/ dairy etc is British and slow reared or organic.

Alba we go to great lengths to source and serve the finest UK ingredients. Scotland is our first port of call. Our friends fish for us the best the North Sea has to offer.  From world class langoustine to hand dived Scallops. Grass-fed cows are aged to perfection for our beef. We use only people we trust. We also utilise the Celtic Sea, the British Atlantic and the Channel.

Provenance and care for our wonderful planet is at the heart of our choices when sourcing food, all our food is ethically sourced and as sustainable as possible. We use only native wood preferably from species of trees that are felled for this purpose or as a result of disease. British charcoal to make our fire’s. Simplicity, quality and people are what we believe in.

Some of our friends include :

Westcombe dairy, Celtic seafood, Huntsham farm, Creedy Carver, Pump Street, Landrace bakery, Honest Toil, Roundhill Roastery, St Ewe, Barclays Butchers, Pughs Piglets, Flying Fish, Cape Wrath Oysters, Wiltshire Truffles. Also we use local growers and small scale allotments for produce whenever possible. We had one wedding whose parents grew a large percentage of the veg for a 150 people wedding which was great fun…

As for the people we are lucky to work alongside, Also those we are lucky to count as friends, Being a small business we use friends often to help us facilitate the gaps we and others in hospitality experience in staffing. All these people are paid 2-3 times the “living wage” as we believe the standard wages to be unfair compared to the skillset and work expected of them. We aim to treat all we work with and encounter with upmost respect and compassion.

This is also the journey we choose to have with you, our potential customer. We want to work alongside you in order that we all have a great time taking the stress out of challenging tasks.

We have great friends who we work with for hire, staffing and bar and many more events and food based relationships we can call upon to help. We can provide set or previous menu options but we prefer to know about you, bringing an aspect of our customers needs, desires or loves into play. We also have existing relationships with some venues if you’re still looking for that special place.

Venues we love:
